Description: Offered here is a World War 2 era USN dog tag to Chief Pharmacist Mate Robert Louis Propp. Propp was a prewar enlisted sailor who was trained as a navy corpsman and served in this capacity for the whole war. He served with Headquarters and Service Company, 23rd Marines, 4th Marine Division, then Headquarters Battalion, 4th Marine Division. He was with the 23rd Marines during the time that they fought on Roi-Namur Island, Kwajalein Atoll (February 1944). He was with HQ Battalion at Saipan and Tinian (June-August, 1944), and Iwo Jima (February-March 1945). Muster roles confirm his presence with these units during the times of those battles. See the photos for research. All research is digital. The dog tag is also the desirable 1941-1942 style with the fingerprint on the backside.
