Description: WEAVER LD 35' JERSEY CENTRAL TRAILER ON 50' FLAT CAR #145 3-RAIL NIB I currently own one of the largest collections of Weaver TOFCs in the United States, and I have reluctantly decided to thin my collection by strategically selling a number of these TOFCs, those that are unlikely to ever make it to the layout. All of the TOFCs I will be selling are NIB. Weaver TOFCs are built very well, look great and track very well. In my opinion, they are the best freight cars that Weaver ever made. In addition to their stock TOFCs, Weaver began to manufacture custom runs of their TOFCs for train dealers and corporations. The Jersey Central was one of those custom runs. Weaver eventually moved to not including an MPN on their TOFC custom runs, other than "LD" to indicate that a TOFC was 3-Rail, or "SD" to indicate a TOFC was 2-Rail. All TOFCs I am selling are 3-Rail. Weaver Jersey Central TOFCs are rare. The Weaver Jersey Central TOFCs are one of my favorites. No surprise really, as I was born and raised in New Jersey. I love the crisp and clean look of both the Trailer and the Flat Car. I have all three of the road numbers that Weaver made for the Jersey Central TOFCs. This one is a duplicate of one of those road numbers. Some words of caution. Please be very careful in removing the flat car from the styrofoam so that you do not break the ramps on each end of the car. First, gently remove the styrofoam pieces on each side of the car by the couplers. Then grab the plastic liner on each side of the car, centered in the middle of each truck, to gently and evenly pull the car out of the styrofoam holder, making sure you are not having the ramps make contact with the styrofoam. Candidly, I never understood why Weaver did not include instructions about how to remove the flat car, although they did provide instructions about how to remove the trailer, as follows: "The trailer is packed very tightly in the foam liner. When removing the trailer, grab each corner of the plastic liner and pull the trailer straight up to avoid breaking the mud flaps." In my experience, the risk of breaking the ramps of the flat car is much higher than the risk of breaking the mud flaps on the trailer. Please note that this TOFC is missing the pony wheels. That should not be an issue if you plan to run the Trailer on the Flat Car. Please also note that the Flat Car missing the brake wheel attachment. Both of these issues occurred occasionally in Weaver's final years. I will price these TOFCs reasonably, and offer combined shipping for purchases of two or more of them. I would rate this TOFC as C-9 and its box as P-9, under the TCA Grading Standards. Shipping to my customers is of utmost importance to me and I take pride in the way I package trains that I sell to them. I will package this TOFC in a new shipping box and protect it with bubble wrap. I will also place "FRAGILE - HANDLE WITH CARE" stickers on the shipping box.
