Description: I love this pencil! I would have really loved it in the 1950's, when I was in elementary school! It is a Kokeshi Doll Pencil - it says so, on the side! It is a long pencil, measuring 15 inches long. The side is also stamped Made in Japan, but the ink in the Japan lettering has faded. Although it is unused, it has a few age related flaws - called patina. The flaws are slight rubs to finish, and to doll tip. Patina is the age related look that things get over time. This piece would have been sold in a "dime store" such as Woolworths (originally called a five and dime). The Kokeshi doll is hand painted. I have one in a different color in another listing, if you are interested. Additionally, I just purchased a lot of vintage and antique dime store NOS (new old stock) novelty items; so check back if you are interested. I am diligently trying to list them, but it is going to take awhile!
