Description: This vintage Suzani (Suzanni) textile was handmade during the mid-1900's in Uzbekistan, Central Asia. More measurements are listed at the end of this description. Suzani are a distinctive kind of embroidered textile from Central Asia - especially from Uzbekistan and surrounding regions where they have been handcrafted for centuries. They are multi-functional, used interchangeably as table coverings, bed spreads, wall hangings, and shawls - and even as fabric for making garments and bags. This large old suzani has a white silk base-cloth that was hand-embroidered with a profusion of colorful flowers and trees-of-life - symbols. All four borders have a quilted edge for extra support and design. Very nice textile, with some wear patterns. Dry clean only.
