Description: Vintage German Schlappeseppel Bier .5L Stein Mug -circa 1970- Sanahed #1958 This is how the story is told: The year is 1631. King Gustav of Sweden takes the city of Aschaffenburg. While the preparations for the royal household are already being made in Johannisburg Palace, one has to realize that there is not a single drop of beer in the barrels. In the middle of the 30-year war, even the last sources dried up. A henchman who understands the art of brewing beer is quickly found. He received the order from the highest authority to brew beer for His Majesty King Gustav. The soldier Joseph Lögler, known as “the lame Seppel” because of a war injury, masters his task. The slacker is born. When the Swedish troops withdraw, Lögler remains true to his profession. He no longer joins the army, but becomes a sedentary barrel bender and brewer. His nickname "the floppy Seppel" lives on in the vernacular. Chronicle Milestones On May 1, 1795 , Franz Jakob Löchler, a descendant of the Swedish soldier, hands over the property to Adam Löchler. Such an excellent certificate was issued to him that the Elector appointed him Electoral Fassbender and “Zerevisiarius” (brewer). In 1803 , Elector Karl Theodor von Dalberg granted the Schlappeseppel brewery brewing rights for eternity. In 1866 the brewer Josef Steigerwald took over the Schlappeseppel brewery. In 1899 , shortly before the turn of the century, Konrad Vogel took over the brewery. After his death, his wife Anna Vogel manages the fortunes of the brewery. In 1934 Georg Vogel, the "Schlappeseppel Schorsch", runs the brewery. His son Konrad Vogel Jr., master brewer, supports his father. In 1999 , the Eder & Heylands private brewery took over the Schlappeseppel brewery as an independent subsidiary. The property in Schloßgasse remains in the possession of the Vogel family. History of the SeppelchenThe triumph of the brand began with the introduction of the Schlappeseppel “Special” in the swing-top bottle. Since then, the Schlappeseppel beers have been among the most awarded beers in Germany. beer of the yearIn 2009 , Schlappeseppel "Special" was voted beer of the year by the beer experts of the ProBier Club . In 2012 Schlappeseppel won the bronze medal at the World Beer Cup in San Diego California with his "Export". Several slackers receive awards from the Monde Selection Brussels, the ITQI Brussels, the DLG and from the pleasure portal selection . The brewery again receives the coveted DLG award for long-term product quality. 2017 Schlappeseppel Helles Bavarian mild is voted beer of the year by the ProBier-Club Germany .
