Description: For sale is a vintage crank neck tang gouge chisel, weighing 8.9 oz., measuring 11/16" wide X 13-7/8" long, which includes its 5-11/16" long nicely turned handle with brass ferule. Signed "Buck Brothers Cast Steel", the edge is somewhat rough, with some light chipping, which will respond well to honing and sharpening by a experienced hand. The handle has a long light crack, as shown in the 17th picture, stabilized by its brass ferrule, and seemingly sound and solid. By lining up the chisel edge with the London Patter Carving Tool chart, this chisel looks to be a number 5, as shown in the 13th & 14th pictures. Any honing, sharpening, cleaning and detailing is left up to you.
