Description: Vintage Antique Middletown Plate Sugar & Creamer 1800s Ornate A beautiful antique Sugar and Creamer set made by the Middletown Plate Co. in the 1800s. The top edge and the handles have ornate Repousse detailing.Middletown Plate Co. was located in Middletown, CT and originated in 1864. The company was taken over in 1899 by the International Silver Co. and their production was transferred to the Wilcox Silver Plate Co. factory.The hallmark on the bottom of both pieces is identical and would indicate the manufacturing time as the late 1800s. They are also marked with the number 625, Hard Plate Metal, Gilt. The sugar measures 6 1/2 inches across the handles and it is 4 1/2 inches high (to the top of the handles) and 3 1/2 inches high to the top edge. The creamer measures 5 1/2 inches across the spout and handle and is 3 1/4 inches high to the edge of the creamer. Both the sugar and creamer are in good condition. They have not been polished. There is scratching to the surface of both.
