Description: Vintage authentic original 1976 KING KONG promotional statue - molded from the original clay maquette and given to key figures and marketing partners. It is unknown how many were made, but the consensus is somewhere between 100 - 400. Considered a holy grail of the 1976 film's collectibles. Based somewhat on the poster or vice versa, the original maquette sculpted during production was then molded and then these hollow cast Kongs were made, shop painted and distributed in very limited numbers. It stands an impressive 24" tall with the wood block base. the base holds a gold tone, metal name plate stating - Dino De Laurentiis & Paramount Pictures present the most original & exciting motion picture event of all time KING KONG The piece remains in overall excellent condition, with the exception that the 3rd finger on the left hand is broken and gone. It's actually not particularly noticeable and could be sculpted up if you have general skills. The paint is all original on this. Someone was offering a reworked or recast one. The base is excellent and the original metal base plate is superb. Overall a beautiful production made artifact from the 1976 film starring Jessica Lange and Jeff Bridges.Comes from a smoke free environment.
