Vintage 1975 LJN SWAT 8" Hondo Action Figure

Description: S.W.A.T. was an American police procedural action crime drama television series. The series aired for two seasons on ABC from February 1975 to April 1976. S.W.A.T. was popular with audiences, but controversies surrounding its depictions of violence ultimately led to the cancellation of a third season. However, its legacy spawned a 2003 film adaptation and a 2017 television series remake for CBS, 2017 both of the same name. S.W.A.T. is set in an unnamed Californian metropolis loosely based on Los Angeles, and follows the newly-established SWAT unit of the Western California Police Department (WCPD). The series specifically follows Olympic SWAT, a five-man SWAT team assigned to Olympic Precinct, headquartered in the precinct's basement. SWAT is trained and equipped to resolve situations regular police units cannot, such as standoffs, crisis negotiation, hostage rescues, and terrorism. Heading Olympic SWAT is Lieutenant Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson, the squad leader and the series' protagonist. To go with several of the TV shows of the time, LJN introduced thier SWAT / Emergency / Rookies line Accessory sets, a S.W.A.T. Van and some fantastic head sculpts made this very popular when introduced and in modern day for collectors. The bodies, came in three types. The first version is like a Mego type 2 body with swivel biceps and pin jointed wrists and ankles. The second version had ball joints in the wrists and pin jointed ankles and lacks the swivel in the bicep. The third version had ball joints in the wrists and ankles. All versions had white “trunks/underwear” which looked very similar to Mattel’s Big Jim figures. This offering is a great example of the LJN Action Figure "Hondo" from the SWAT TV Series. The action figure comes as shown in the photographs, with shirt, pants, boots, hat, and bulletproof vest. All joints and head of this action figure moves without resistance and all parts are original to the action figure. I am the original owner of this toy.
