Description: Step into the ring & add a piece of history to your collection with this 5-card lot of vintage Japanese menko cards, all featuring the thrilling sport of boxing! These cards date back to the late 1940s & 1950s, capturing the traditional style & artistry of mid-century Japanese menko cards. Three cards are from the late 1940s. The top two feature illustrated boxers in the ring, while the third, "Tetsuwan Jimu" (Iron Arm Gym), is part of the JCM88: 1948 Head in Circle Back set. The card at the bottom middle from 1955 depicts the prizefighter Shigeji Kaneko, who won the first ever featherweight championship of the newly formed Oriental Boxing Federation (OBF) in December 1955. The front says his surname at top & "featherweight oriental champion" at bottom. The final card is a Kagome Puzzle Card that has clues on the back to help guess the subject on the front. Please see photos for card conditions as they do show signs of wear, creasing, and aging.
