Description: Khymych Yuriy Ivanovych (1928 - 2003) Born in Kamyanets-Podilskyy. He graduated from Kyiv Institute of Engineering and Construction (1950)., studied at the postgraduate course of the Academy of Architecture (1955-58). His teachers were Y. Steinberg and O. Shovkunenko. Participant of republican, all-union and international exhibitions since 1956. He taught at Kyiv Institute of Civil Engineering (1964 - 1985) and Kyiv Institute of Art (since 1989 - professor). Member of the National Union of Artists (1966), Honored Artist of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (1990). He held many personal exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. He worked mainly in the techniques of watercolour, gouache, monotype, portrayed the architectural monuments of Ukraine, Russia, Baltics, Central Asia, Caucasus, Finland, Poland,Crimea. He illustrated magazines, books on history and culture.There are a lot of his art-works in the wo museums and in the private collections, they are exhibited on the auctions and the western galleries.-The watercolor paintings of this artist's early period are realistic and different from the style of the later period (gouache).
