TWO 6 inch Plates by Crown Ducal made in England “Bristol” in Pink c.1931

Description: This is for a pair of lovely 6 inch plates by Crown Ducal of England. They have a pink design of flowers and roses and a bird or two in the center circled by a rose and floral design. All underglaze, which has protected it from fading. Very pretty! These plates are considered side plates, where during fancy dinners, they would be used to hold a folded napkin, as a bread and butter plate, an hors d’oeurves plate, or for a small treat or desert. In England, they would also have been used during tea time for a treat to go with an afternoon cup of tea. This Bristol pattern was made starting in 1931 according to Replacements, so these are vintage white earthenware plates, and they both have crazing throughout on the front and the back. I took pictures with flash on so you can see it more easily. There are no chips or cracks, and the glaze is smooth to the touch. These plates are entirely glazed, including the rims, so on the back of the plates are 3 kiln support marks where the plate rested while they were being fired. Looking at an angle to the light, I see no marks in the glaze. These plates are 6 inches across and weigh about 5 ounces each.
