Percy Alden (1865-1944) was a British social worker, land reformer and radical Liberal Party politician, and a strong advocate for garden cities, land settlement and farm colonies. From 1892 to 1901, he was a member of the West Ham Borough Council, serving as deputy mayor in 1898. West Ham was then one of the most deprived areas in London with high unemployment. Alden's experiences in West Ham - in particular around the Victoria and Albert Docks - fuelled this book. All orders professionally packed, tracked and/or signed for, and insured.ABOUT BATH AND WEST BOOKS I am a member of the P.B.F.A. and adhere to strict codes of conduct for professional booksellers.
