Alexander Shtarkman(USSR), Tian Ying(China), and Elisso Bolkvadze(USSR) were the 4th, 5th, and 6th place winners respectively. A documentary film of the competition, The Eighth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition: Here to Make Music was produced and directed by Peter Rosen.
