Description: This is a rare January 1961 playbill from the Pre-Broadway engagement of the MARY CHASE comedy "MIDGIE PURVIS" at the New Locust Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (The production would open February 1st, 1961 at the Martin Beck Theatre in New York City and close after only 21 performances.) ..... The play starred TALLULAH BANKHEAD (shown in the cover photo) and featured AUDREY CHRISTIE (replaced out-of-town by JANE VAN DUSER), WILLIAM REDFIELD, CLINTON SUNDBERG, ALICE PEARCE, NYDIA WESTMAN, JOHN CECIL HOLM, KIP McARDLE, PHILIP HUSTON (replaced out-of-town by RUSSELL HARDIE), JANICE MARS, WILL ABLE (replaced out-of-town by RICHARD PRAHL), PAUL MACE, JOSEPH GRASSI, WILLIAM CALLAN, RED GRANGER, JEAN BRUNO, PHIL BRUNS and PIA ZADORA (in what would be her Broadway debut) .....
