Description: Tales from Shakespeare. This book was published by George Routledge and Sons in New York anywhere between 1870 to 1882.The authors of this book are Charles and Mary Lamb It measures 7 3/4" tall, 5 1/2 " wide, and 1 1/2" deep. There are a total of 80 illustrations. Many of his stories were made into plays, or movies such as, Romeo and Juliet, MacBeth, The Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Taming Of the Shrew. This antique hardcover book is in good condition for its age of between 142 to 154 years of age. There are places that the book is slightly tearing from the spine. There is no foxing, no smell, no tears, no bent corners on the pages.! Very slight wear on the top and bottom of the spine of the book. I have seen gray and green colored covers for this book, but this one is uniquely done in a burnt orange. The cover is nicely embossed. All in all a splendid book for your collection!
