Description: Soviet Russian USSR Documented and Researched Order of Red Banner #36778 w/COA KMD, 1942 production. Type 2, "monetny dvor" mintmark. Serial number: 36778. Original silver nut. Comes with Order's book (contains very nice photo of the Red Navy sailor Novikov T.A., born 1921). Accompanied by COA from A. Filer (7.5 out of 10 condition rating). Comes researched (6 large color scans of citations will be provided to the buyer). According to research, this young sailor (he was 21 at the time of awarding) was responsible for shooting down 2 U-88 german planes! Initially recommended for the Red Star, apparently upgraded to Red Banner by superior commanders. Award decree of Sept. 25, 1942. Research shows that during the WWII, besides this Red Banner and the Ushakov medal, listed in the Order's Book (it's missing), he also received medals "For defense of Leningrad" and "Victory over Germany", no other decorations. However, we will provide citations for the ushakov medal, as well as nakhimov medal, which apparently, he was recommended for, but didn't receive. Normally, any early screwback Red Banner to a Navy veteran are very rare and always sought after. In this case, it's even more so, in such condition, and with such a nice Order's book and background history of a young Soviet Navy sailor.
