Description: This little portrait of Saint Rose of Puru is an unusual and quite rare piece. It is framed under glass in a gilt wood frame. The picture is beautifully made and detailed with gold accents. On the back of the piece are the words, translated into English as: " Memory of the Promotion 'Santa Rosa de Lima' by C.E. No. 6026 'Julio C. Tello' 6th year B. Lurin. Gift: Teacher Godmother B. Agrippina Pinto Galloso 1994." Saint Rose of Lima was the first Catholic in the Americas to be declared a saint. Julio C. Tello was a Peruvian Archeologist. and considered "the father of Peruvian archeology." Lurin is known for its archaeological temple of Pachacamac. I'm assuming it was a gift from B. Agrippina Pinto Gallosa in 1994. A rare and lovely piece for any collector, it measures 3.125" x 2.4375" x .5" has a ribbon at the top for hanging if you wish. Please see my pictures and read the condition description. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thank you for looking!
