Description: A single, high-quality, decorative sculpture of a Vietnamese scholar in a matte black finish with verdigris accents. Normally part of a pair, it is a reproduction of one of the original sculptures by George-Denys Dutheil (French, 1888-1962) called “Jeune Homme Vietnamien” ("Young Vietnamese Man" 1958) and “Jeune Homme Vietnamien Lisant” ("Young Vietnamese Man Reading" 1958). It is heavy, I believe it may be chalkware. A few companies appear to have made reproductive versions, some on a square decorative base, which vary widely in quality. Most common seem to be from Austin, but this is NOT an Austin reproduction (Austins are marked as such on the sides, and are less detailed, with broad, flattened faces). Approximately 8”H, 6”W, 5”D. Weight 3lbs. In 'as found' condition - I have not cleaned it. Thank you for looking! Find more unique items at Blue Moon Gifts and Collectibles.
