Description: Seldom seen and rather scarce original bronze Inaugural medal (circa 1923) struck on the occasion of the Inauguration and unexpected swearing in of President Calvin Coolidge on August 2nd, 1923 at the US Mint in Philadelphia. Medal is very large measuring 3" in diameter and heavy weighing just over 8 oz. in very nice shape with rich brown surfaces. This original 1923 Coolidge Inaugural medal is both rare and desirable as it represents the only authorized (struck by the US Mint) medal for the swearing in of President Coolidge following the unexpected death of President Warren Harding. The 1st term 1923 Coolidge medal should not be confused with the mass produced 1925-1928 medal that was struck into the millions to this very day !
