The M6 gas mask bag is designed to carry the US Army M4 Lightweight Service gas mask. M6 shoulder bag which makes a great general purpose bag. It was designed to carry the M4 gas mask but due to its handy carrying shoulder straps and useful size it was often used instead of the M1928 haversack for carrying spare clothing, rations and extra ammunition, especially in the later part of the war in Europe. Premium quality webbing pouch, these are made by Kay Canvas using the best fabrics. The metal is brass not steel and the cotton canvas webbing has the correct weight and weave of the originals for a high quality pouch. These are as good as originals, they just do not have that old musty smell to them. The shoulder strap has the correct 2 clips on it so it can be worn as a shoulder bag for normal wear (using the clip at the end of the bag) and when a gas attack warning is made it is pulled around the front and the second clip is attached to the D ring making the strap shorter and bringing the bag closer to the chest this is called the "Alert" position. Features: Built in shoulder strap (4cm wide) with the 2 clips. Waist belt (2cm wide) with clip on the end. Two D rings for the waist belt and shoulder straps to clip onto to. Flap is closed by three press studs. Large main compartment with three internal pockets. White felt patches sewn on the inside to protect the mask. Size when closed 24cm high. 10cm deep. 32cm wide. When the bag is open the top of the bag is deeper so it is easier to get into the bag. Front of the bag is stamped "Army Light Weight Service Mask" on the main body and it has the "US" letters and the Chemical logo on the front of the flap. Colour OD#7 which is the dark green colour.
