In publisher's illustrated cover. Good condition, minor scuffs and stains. An even more ridiculous fate awaited the latest issue, prepared in the absence of the majority of the editorial staff. "Urlight" (1985-1987, 1988-1992) is a samizdat magazine founded in 1985. It is a direct continuation of the Moscow magazines "Ear" (1982-1983) and "Mirror" (1981-1982). The name is a junction of the words "urla" and "ol right". This magazine contains: lyrics by Mike Naumenko and Ilya Kormiltsev; articles about Zvuki Mu and Seva Novgorodtsev. Samizdat (Russian: самизда́т, lit. "self-publishing") was a form of dissident activity across the Eastern Bloc in which individuals reproduced censored and underground makeshift publications, often by hand, and passed the documents from reader to reader. The practice of manual reproduction was widespread, due to the fact that most typewriters and printing devices were inventorized and required permission to access. This grassroots practice to evade official Soviet censorship was fraught with danger, as harsh punishments were meted out to people caught possessing or copying censored materials. Ilya Valeryevich Kormiltsev (Russian: Илья́ Вале́рьевич Корми́льцев, b. September 26, 1959, Sverdlovsk, USSR (now Yekaterinburg, Russia) - d. February 4, 2007, London, UK) was a Russian poet, translator, and publisher. Seva Novgorodsev (Russian: Се́ва Новгоро́дцев, which is a pseudonym, his real name being Vsevolod Borisovich Levenstein (Всеволод Борисович Левенштейн); born 9 July 1940) is a former radio presenter on the BBC Russian Service, and is famous through the former Soviet Union. Mikhail Vasilyevich Naumenko, better known as Mike Naumenko (Russian: Майк Науменко, 18 April 1955 – 27 August 1991) was a Soviet rock musician, singer-songwriter and interpreter, leader of the band Zoopark. Zvuki Mu (Russian: Зву́ки Му [ˈzvukʲɪ ˈmu], roughly translated as "The Sound of Moo") are a Russian alternative rock/indie/post-punk band founded in Moscow in 1983. Lead singer and songwriter Pyotr Mamonov is one of the most revered and eccentric figures of the Russian art scene, whose absurdist lyrics are as playful and disturbing as his vocal style and explosive on-stage presence. 2.
