Description: One of the best pieces of collecting advice I ever received was that no matter what you collect, buy the best example of that work that you can afford. The first time I saw this image I was mesmerized. Literally stopped me in my tracks. Modernism, The complexity, on point sharp stone color contrasts, the meaty weight of the Sterling cuff itself was almost too extraordinary! It was the first time I’d really seen Native American jewelry, silversmithing, art and I WAS HOOKED. This specific modernistic image, the GOONEY BIRD makes me think of so many other greats, JOAN MIRO, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali (without the weird mustache….), and it’s uniqueness puts this incredible cuff in it’s own whole new Native American Timeless category, with the likes of Preston Monongye and a few others in its raw FRESH take. Lolita Natachu is a master, an icon, this cuff is ICONIC, hard to find, even harder to find in excellent condition with only the faintest hints of a life before today. This is a MUSEUM QUALITY example of her work and of this specific image. A good buff from a gentle jeweler and the Sterling will verily gleam like new. It’s so gorgeous that I had quite a time not taking shot after shot of my iPhone and fingers.😁 aside from the tiniest flea bite here and there which I TRIED to get pictures of, one wonders if it’s been worn at all, and THAT, Ladies and Gentlemen is the brass ring…this piece is as close to museum quality as vintage gets without its having literally left Lolita Natachu’s Jewelers bench today.
