What is the difference between the Standard Duty & Special Duty Jaws The big different in the two jaws is strength. That why we make 2 different styles. - The Standard duty jaws are design for engine that have the gears on the outside of the case. they typical have a greater amount of space between the back of the wheel & the motor case. Most older Lionel & AF would use this Jaw. The only excision is Marx's engines. They need the Special duty jaws. - The Special duty jaws are weaker in design because they where design to fit behind wheels that are much tighter to the case.
