Description: Pair of Cast Iron Toy Race Cars with Lifting Hood Used This is a pair of all cast iron racing cars. These are a push/pull toy car and the wheels do turn. The hood on each side of the car opens to reveal a fairly detailed straight 8 engine as shown in the photos. The No. 5 racing car is painted a bright yellow with red trim. The grill is painted silver and the wheels are white and red. The driver is painted black. The No. 6 racing car is painted a dark blue with red trim. The grill is painted silver and the wheels are red and white. The driver is painted black. No Maker’s Mark could be found on either race car. However, there appears to be some sort of molded marking or imprint on the inside of both engine hoods on both cars. The imprint might read 1678-6 as shown in the photos. Please examine the photos to make your own determination. The origin and date of manufacture of these racing cars are unknown which provides an aura of mystery surrounding the pieces and that makes it that “special find” not to mention a wise investment for any collector. Both cars are nearly 9” Long and 3½” Wide and 3½” High. These pieces will look great on display on a desk or shelf and will get a lot of attention. These are great conversation pieces and should be considered a “must have” for any fan or collector of cast iron toys.
