He was the discoverer of copper glaze and under his name exported red ruby glass as well as red glaze coated and engraved glass abroad.Initially, he was engaged in decorating products made of milk glass, which was a substitute for expensive porcelain at the time. In 1809, he recorded the first commercial successes with a new surface matting technique, the so-called agate. He started experimenting with glass already in 1816, when he was recognized for the invention of yellow (or silver) colored glass. World success was brought to him by decorating the surface of yellow glass with engravings, which gave him a yellow and white pattern. He perfected the white enamel color, thus obtaining the so-called pearlescent (glossy) and bisque (matte) enamel. He settled in Novy Bor as a burgher in 1820. Thanks to his prosperous business, he soon expanded the workshop to include a smelter and bought an exhibition house on the square where the Glass Museum is now located. From 1832, he began to produce his glass industrially in his refinery, where he employed 200 employees. From the 1840s, he enjoyed the title of privileged imperial and royal manufacturer with the right to sell glass throughout the monarchy. His art was appreciated by Emperor Ferdinand V., who visited him several times in Novy Bor.After his death in 1864, his son Anton Ambroz took over the successful production. It has become a synonym for Czech glass throughout the world and is still produced as a popular item (Wiki).
