Description: Moche Stirrup Vessel - Warrior with Jaguar Headdress - Pre ColumbianHas museum stamp and is numbered Pre - Columbian, north coast of Peru, Moche V. This is a figural stirrup vessel in the form of a jaguar head dressed Warrior. The warrior is on his knee, a huge huge mace held across his body. He wears a Tunic decorated with white dots. On his head is a fierce Jaguar head. This figure also has enormous Triangular earrings with dots. The Stirrup Handle projects from the back of this figure but the cylindrical spout does not rise above the head of the Warrior. His face is expressive with large eyes and a tight lip. His Helmet is conical denoting a ordinary warrior rather than a lord. There appears to be no restoration nor repair lines on this figure. This item has not undergone a thermoluminescence test to my knowledge. The tests are expensive, they have to drill into the item, and tests cannot be relied upon 100% for authenticity. This according to the Daybreak Nuclear and Medical Systems website..This warrior was found in a discarded museum box about 20 years ago and then offered for sale on eBay. * Do not bid on this item unless you feel confident that it is authentic. As a collector of antiquities, you should know. I would rather keep this treasure, than have an irate customer or worse, a broken item. Insured for travel and very carefully packed.
