Description: MISS BUGS - "Miss Pretends to be Klimt's Girl" (2012) - Original commission on heavy, sturdy paper*, painted to the edge, no white border. Mixed media: 1 color silk-screen / 9 color stencil on paper* *The paper is much sturdier, thicker and heavier than what their limited edition prints use. If you are familiar with their classic artwork, "Mother," it's exactly on that paper. Size: 34.75" inches x 27.5" inches (88 cm x 70 cm) Signed on the reverse: "Miss Bugs" and numbered "1/1" This was an original commission from the days of the Parlor show in Brooklyn, New York back in 2011. They exhibited one on aluminum (that one was priced at over $4000 USD). As far as I know, these two are the only versions of Klimt's Girl that exist. And with a different, arguably better colorway. Miss Bugs did not create a print edition of this image. I paid over $2000 for this. I have been mulling over the idea of sending this to Heritage for auctioning there, but figured I'll try eBay first. To be sure, I asked the artists if this commission should be treated as an original or a print. Miss replied that it's an definitely an original. I paid for it in early 2012. I never got around to framing the artwork. It's been stored flat in a temperature controlled storage unit for over a decade. A couple notes: 1. One thing, and this is just my intuition, I believe the face on this image is actually Miss herself. Yeah, I'm taking the title of the artwork as the primary clue. 2. In reviewing the email correspondence for this commission: We referred to the commissioned paper version of the piece as "Miss Pretends to be Klimt's Girl" whereas the aluminum version which was exhibited publicly was actually titled "Miss Would Pretend to be Klimt's Girl". 3. As with painted originals, there are a couple tiny, barely perceptible imperfections in the black area. Miss Bugs says this is normal and expected on original artwork. Please review the uploaded photos.
