MINT - ULTRA RARE-SIGNS OF SPRING - 2 SHOES TMK2 (R)-Goebel Hummel-Perm Retired

Description: Offered for sale is a MINT-ULTRA RARE-SIGNS OF SPRING-2 Shoes-TMK2 (R) Goebel Hummel-4"- Perm Retired. The (R) indicates 'Registered' which means 'copyright'. Therefore, it also means it's an early TMK2, which is further confirmation of it's rarity and increased value. This is one of the most sought after Hummels due to the limited number that was produced in the 2 shoe version (see history below). It is an ultra rare piece depicting a charming, sparkling eyed, little girl behind a fence wearing two shoes with both of her feet on the ground. In the regular production version she is wearing only one shoe and one shoe-less foot is raised above the ground as if she didn't want to get her bare foot dirty. This figurine is in MINT condition and has no cracks, nicks, crazing, or repairs. The Full Bee TMK2 trademark on the underside is clearly stamped and has the copyright logo along with the (R) for 'registered'. It also has the WG crown emblem incised onto the base after the M. I. Hummel signature.The Robert L. Miller price guide, 10th Edition, values this figurine at $1,200 - $1,500 (see last photo). The history behind the 2 shoe version: Goebel's Master sculptor Arthur Möeller originally modeled this figurine in 1948 and in only one size. However, in the mid-1950s, a smaller version was issued with the 4-inch tall HUM # 203 2/0 incised mold number. It was this size, in the Full Bee TMK2 trademark, that Signs of Spring was created with two shoes. This version did not last very long as it was decided to go back to the version of the right foot being shown as shoe-less, and has remained that way since. Thus, the TMK2, two shoes version, is ultra rare. The Full Bee TMK2 version may be found with both shoes, and with only one shoe. The TWO SHOE version is considered ultra rare and has a value estimated as three times that of the same Full Bee TMK2 version with one shoe ($1,200 - $1,500). Signs of Spring was permanently retired by Goebel in the Fall of 1990, and will not be produced again.
