My understanding is that the record label sent these stickers to the distributor after MJs Grammy win to move out the stock that had been sitting around, unsold due to the anti-disco backlash. 1982 Thriller US QE 38112 with proper hype stickers and store and Turtles price tag. 1987 Bad Canada OE 40600 with hype sticker and ridiculously low price tag 2.99!
