Description: For sale is a fine example of Dieter Hopf's craftsmanship. The guitar has a beautifully book-matched Rosewood back and this attention to detail has been carried into matching the ribs on the lower bout. It has a very clean Cedar top. It is a large, powerful and substantial guitar, with concert-level volume from its 664mm scale length and ease of playing from the 54mm nut. The action is standard classical and there is room at the saddle to lower the action if required, which is currently set at the concert classical standard. Dieter Hopf reduced the vibrating mass of the bridge by incorporating a series of holes which enhances the dynamic response of the instrument and there is a slightly increased amount of neck relief to accommodate the longer vibrating string length. The video included in this listing shows a similar guitar, built in 1990. The only difference is the guitar in the video has fret markers, while this one does not. The rest of the instrument is the same. At the time the guitar was built the La Portentosa model was the flagship in the Hopf line-up and is still included at a retail price of 9,000 Euros or $10,000. Prices for a 40-year-old instrument in this condition are significantly higher. This is a true concert instrument and would suit an experienced player or collector looking for an outstanding guitar. It comes with a hard case. Please contact me for further details. I can provide you with extra photos and videos. We can have a video call for you to inspect the instrument.
