He attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College and was ordained in the Kansas Conference of the Wesleyan Methodist church, serving pastorates in Kansas, Indiana, South Dakota, and Lowa. He attended Marion College and from 1945 to 1948 taught at Milton-vale Wesleyan College. In 1948 he went to Australia, where he spent five years as a missionary, starting the Melbourne Bible College. On his return in 1954 he completed requirements for the Master's and the Doctor's degrees at the University of Iowa. Dr. Cox is now professor of theology and New Testament at Marion College, Marion, Indiana.
