Description: Jean Luc Gambier French Art Glass Vase signed Gambier '98 7.5"h This is a gorgeous example of the eccentric art glass of Jean Luc Gambier, a compatriot of Jean Claude Novaro, who has a similar technique and is a better known French glass master. Gambier has a more organic vibe in his work, with some vases melting into puddles used as bases. This one is clear at the bottom then has an amazing array of layered blues and shattered gold abstract shapes, solid, rising to a five petal holder for a tubular cup vase with a white speckled gilt lower part outer layer with a cadmium yellow mottled clear vase rising up from within the lower speckled part another inch and a half. He studied at the school of glass in Moulins, France in the 1960s. He has worked at glass works in Biota, then Caussols, and began his own workshop in the early 1990’s, where his son joined him. Jean Luc is a master glass worker, renowned for his specific method where he does not use a mound or prefabricated form. He uses multiple layers of different colors and metallics. One can tell by this messy description that this glass is difficult to describe in words, ergo lots of pictures. No damage! No issues! Size: 7.5"h and at most 5"w.
