HOGAN's HEROES --COMPLETE DVD SERIES on CBS VIDEO [SEASONS 01-06]

Description: This is the complete series of 168 episodes of the popular World War II slapstick comedy 'Hogan's Heroes,' starring Bob Crane as Col. Robert Hogan, downed bomber pilot and leader of a merry band of volunteers assigned to a German POW camp with the ongoing mission to disrupt enemy operations and assist others in actually escaping. Even though any one or more of the crew presumably could have easily escaped on their own through the elaborate system of tunnels constructed under the nose of the unsuspecting Col. Wilhelm Klink at Luft-Stalag 13, they instead choose to stay behind to help others get back to England to rejoin the fight. Joining Hogan are Richard Dawson (Corp. Peter Newkirk-UK), Robert Clary (Corp. Louis LeBeau-France), as well as other US troops Ivan Dixon (SSgt. James Kinchloe) and Larry Hovis. (TSgt. Andrew Carter). Strictly speaking this is not a 'box set,' in that each season can be purchased separately, but they are being offered here as if this was a box set. The video quality is superb as this particular version is the one offered by CBS video, the network orignally airing the series starting in 1965. The test or 'pilot' episode is in 'Black and White,' but all other shows are in color. The pilot also includes a Soviet soldier as part of the gang, but the actor Leonid Kinskey reportedly declined to continue with the show. No other Soviet character replaced Kinskey, and instead Larry Hovis' role was changed from a Lieutenant to a Sergeant The show still can be seen in syndication all over cable and satellite ... but why not have the real thing ??
