Description: Henryby Carl Thomas Anderson First edition, first printing New York: Greenberg: Publisher, 1935. Unpaginated. Publisher's red cloth stamped in blue. First edition. Very Good despite missing the dust jacket. Slight corner wear on the top spine. Pages are all tight with no rips or tears. The inside cover is inscribed with beautiful penmanship that I can't fully make out what it says. There is no other writing in the book. A long-running comic strip (1932-2018) of a boy who communicates mainly via pantomime, created when Anderson was 67 years old. Among the strip's accolades have been for its ingenuity for wordless storytelling and positive treatment of African American characters in the '30s and '40s when other portrayals were generally negative. Rare to find in tact or in excellent condition. Typically priced at $700 or more for a copy with the original dust jacket. Offering this gem at a significantly lower price than I should - take advantage before I come to my senses. Please Note: Most vintage/antique items will have minor wear due to their age and or years of service, which adds to the charm of these items. Whenever purchasing a vintage item, it’s natural to expect small imperfections. I do my very best to accurately disclose and photograph in the listing, however, I am not a certified expert of antiquities. Please feel free to contact me with any questions prior to purchasing the item as we do not accept returns on items that could sustain damage on the return transit.
