Description: I'd like to introduce you to Beatrice, a sweet girl who grew up very poor in the West Virginia mountains.Her home she shared with her parents and siblings was a tiny little shack with only three rooms that they all crammed into with an old wood stove for cooking and heat. The family had very little resources and they often went without their basic needs. The father worked in town finding odd jobs to try to feed his family while mom and the kids did their best to take care of the shack and what little livestock they managed to keep. Her parents tried their best but many nights the family went to bed without a proper meal, often the parents and Beatrice going hungry so her younger siblings could have something to eat. Beatrice was thin and frail from lack of nourishment, making it hard for her to keep up with her chores. At only 13 years old, after having very little to eat for several weeks so that her siblings could be fed, Beatrice succumbed to her lack of food and starved to death.The only toy that all the children shared to play with was this fragile doll and wanting to still be with her family, Beatrices spirit attached to it knowing that she in some way would still be with her parents and siblings.This vintage composition doll is frail as Beatrice was, and just wants to be a part of a loving family who will keep her safe and warm. Most of the time she tries to remain happy, but there are times I have felt such sadness around her, knowing she must be thinking about her family she once was a part of.Beatrice would love to join a bustling home with children's laughter all around her. Although she is too fragile to actually play, she enjoys the sounds of happiness.Beatrice's vessel is 18" tall, has brown hair and green eyes.
