The increased attention to the origins of Michael added a dimension I felt was lacking in the original. He took a slightly different approach to the character of Michael as well as Dr Loomis. It changed the flavor of the film but still kept the basic premise of the movie intact. If you are one who feels that the original film should be inviolate then you won't like this movie.
