Her first career was in film production in Europe after which she lived and worked as a columnist for The Bangkok Post in Thailand until her retirement in 2000. She founded the Mallet Knitting Foundation in 2001 and taught crafts in the townships of South Africa and at elementary schools in Southern California where some of the programs still continue knitting for charity and forming friendships between children from different countries and backgrounds. She began publishing her books in 2011, travels between homes in Cape Town, South Africa and Palm Springs, California, and is an avid tennis player.
