Description: Offered for immediate purchase . . . . . . is a packet containing more than a hundred (100+) ~ Vintage *SMALL* Gar Scales ~ Dyed Glossy Black With Matte Deep-Charcoal Underside ~ in the usual variety of shapes and sizes, measuring from approximately three-eighths of an inch (3/8") to approximately half an inch (1/2") long. These vintage Gar Scales are known as "one-sided", the top side being dyed glossy black, and the underside having absorbed the dye in shades of matte deep charcoal. Collected from vintage supplies I've been fortunate enough to purchase throughout the years, dyed Gar Scales like these were used from the 1940s to 1960s era to create pretty little flower petals and blossoms for seashell jewelry, flowers, pictures, and floral bouquets. And, what striking accents these would create in Sailor's Valentines or for Black & White Mosaics!
