The first one had some issues with the latch bolt, it wouldn't retract fully. Now in both sets, the handles were great quality. Heavy metal, solid, with a feeling of quality when you held them.In the first the bolt set was cheap-feeling. The second one had none of the issues of the previous. It installed easily, the handles and bolt turned smoothly and felt well-engineered. The buttons work and are responsive. The fingerprint sensor also works well and I've had no issues with it so far.The only possible negative is programming it. This took quite some time to figure out. It's not difficult once you have mentally processed all the steps and what they do. That part was a little time-consuming. Only two screws to attach and a cable to connect. Install the batteries and you're ready to go.The handle itself feels well built, not light as I expected. The keypad has soft, rubber pads for the numbers which feel nice but you do need to apply a decent amount of pressure to register the button press.Once this was installed, programming it for different user codes and fingerprints was not the easiest.The directions are sparse in this area, the instruction sheet has different sections for each function but they consist mostly of a couple of lines with flowchart-like descriptions. Not terribly difficult to follow but you need to read through them a few times to understand. When you enter programming mode on the lock, you press the button with the picture of the lock and then follow the instructions for the feature you want to update. Each function (add a user code, add a fingerprint, etc.) has a different numeric code that you need to input before programming it. Initially, the part I had the most trouble with was that after you press the first set of buttons to begin the process, you only have about five seconds to enter the next set of key presses before the program mode times out. If this happens you have to start over. It took me quite a few tries in the beginning but then I got the hang of it and was able to get everything set up and add several user codes without issue. After set up was done I tested it out. Entering your user code is pretty simple, you just press the lock icon button to wake it and then enter your user code and then press the lock icon again and you hear the lock open. Keep in mind that once you unlock it with your code, you only have about five seconds to open the door before it automatically goes back to lock mode. There may be a way to extend this time or turn the auto-lock off but I couldn't find it in the directions. Not a big deal for me and I actually prefer this. The fingerprint reader works really well. I was skeptical that it would work consistently but I tried opening the lock with my finger fifteen times in a row and it worked every time.If you are wondering whether there is a key for this as I was, I can tell you that it does come with two keys as a backup in case the batteries die. The slot for the key is on the end of the handle so you don't see it. By the way, if the batteries die, there is also a usb port on the handle so you can temporarily power it with a power supply (not included) to open the door if you don't have the keys handy. It would have been a huge mistake-First thing I realized is that this is a heavy, premium door handle. It has all metal casing on both the inside and outside of the door. The inside handle holds the 4 required batteries, and also has a lock/unlock button. Other locks do not have this inside lock/unlock button.The outside handle has five, soft silicone buttons with 2 digits on each button numbering 0-9. This would allow for 625 different combinations if you choose a 4 digit code... or 1,953,125 if you choose a 9 digit code. There are a total of only 100 user unlock codes.The outside handle also has a USB C plug for emergency power. According to the instructions, the handle will alert you when the battery is low.Programing the handle was pretty straight forward with the enclosed manual. But there is also a couple videos that show you programing steps if reading isn't your thing. A few things I found while programing: The default PC (programing code) is 123456The LED and the sounds are consistent. So if you hear two tones when programing, the changes did not apply. And you'll probably want to turn the sound off, it became annoying really quick, but works well to help you learn the programing steps.Installlation was also easy using the instructions. The manufacture even included an inside hole on the inside handle so you can reach the interior screw. Most manufacturers expect you to push the handle down to reach the interior screws.There are two keys that are included with the door handle. They worked without problem, but I do wonder how many places can copy this key. For the record, this type of key is called sidewinder keys. I don't see the need for additional keys, but perhaps you do.Initially I was going to use this on an interior door. But I felt confident enough to use this on my inside back exterior door. I don't expect any problems, but if they do arise, I will be back to update my review. The lock has an impressive 1 year warranty, which makes me confident that this product will last a long time.Thanks for reading, and the opportunity to review this lock. For me, this fingerprint door handle was a win, and I'd definitely recommend it. I have had other fingerprint door handles that integrate with my smart home, but they didn't seem as high quality or have all the same abilities as this door handle. The instructions to me were not as clear and it took me over a month just to get it finished because I kept stopping and coming back to it. I’m not the most handy person, but generally I can understand instructions for things when I need to build them, and these weren’t as clear. I still don’t think I installed it correctly, but the quality of this is amazing. It’s very durable and heavy and the buttons on it are easy to push.
