Description: Elephant Figural Character Stand Up Planter Home Artisan Ceramics Crafted 1981 This whimsical, funny and eclectic elephant planter is just adorable! It is preowned and handmade and is from the early 1980s so it is a bit vintage. This little guy was actually used as a live planter in his previous home and he is searching for another plant lover to scoop him up. This planter measures approximately 4 & 3/4ths inches tall x 3 & 5/8ths inches wide. It was most likely created in a ceramics class by a home artisan crafter. It is painted a neutral gray color along with black highlighted areas to outline features on his trunk, knees and eyes. The eyes are indented a bit giving some dimension. There are no chips or cracks, no abundance of crazing but there is light surface scratching and staining on the inside of the white from the dirt that was used in the planter. The inside is lightly stained by dirt which is to be expected. The bottom is initialed by the artist and dated. What a fun animal character decoration for a pretty plant! We actually do not recommend using this for a live plant as there are no drainage holes and it will further stain on the inside if potting soil is used. With that said, this planter can be used for both live plants and for faux floral and plant arrangements, we recommend faux floral and plant arrangments.
