I grabbed the above description from the Eberlestock website...I think it must be fore a newer version of the same pack. There is a panel that folds down, and you can sit on it, but I would not describe it as "comfortable". But it will keep your butt dry. It is a very versatile pack, and designed to carry a lot of weight, but not a lot of volume. More than ample for a daypack, maybe even a warm overnight bag. This one is in great shape, I only used it for some hiking near my house, never had a heavy load on it, never carried any meat. Very clean, pretty much like new.
