Description: There is something nice and special about the people who love plants .*.*. Welcome to my Beautiful World of Gardening! .*.*. You will receive: One tree, Eastern Red Cedar, Will be shipped with roots wrapped in moist paper. These plants are approximately 3-5 inch above the roots . The shapes of these trees may vary. Attached photos show some of the shapes. The second photo is for illustration only - it is my own plant on my own window sill, and I am NOT selling it. If you buy more than one plant - discount will be computed automatically. I recycle shipping boxes. During winter, these trees are semi-dormant and they have approx. 10-25% of their needles in dry form. You will need to clip them off, leaving green only branches. This is a small cosmetic procedure. Remaining needles have their typical winter colors like grayish-bluish-green. During frosts they develop brown-purple tones. During the Spring, Summer and early Fall, the needles are bright-green. 10-20% of the foliage can be dry and will need to be clipped off.The first photo shows a plant during summer, with bright green new colors. I am selling dozens of pre-bonsai trees and I can not take picture of each of them. Some of my threes are "flatter" and "wider" than others. Most of my remaining plants are similar to that shown on the first photo, but they are narrower in horizontal dimension. All of them have several main branches. Red cedar is an amazing plant; it is easy to grow and shape the way you like it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~General Information about this tree:The eastern red cedar (Juniperus virginiana) grows in Hardiness Zones 2–9Height 40–50' and a spread of 8–20' at maturity.Grows at a medium rate, with height increases of 13–24" per year.Very undemanding plants. Full sun is the ideal condition for this tree, meaning it should get at least six hours of direct sunlight each day.Grows in acidic, alkaline, loamy, moist, rich, sandy, silty loam, well-drained and clay soils. The tree can withstand occasional flooding yet has good drought tolerance.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~After You Received Your PlantPlease note that the plants are traveling to your address in boxes. This means that they are in the dark for days – not exactly a normal condition for the plants. If you take a stressed plant from the box and put it under direct sunlight – most likely the sunlight will burn its leaves. If you spray/mist the leaves under direct sunlight – water droplets will act like optical lenses, focusing sunlight and burning the leaves. If you quickly expose the plant to the outdoor heat – it will damage the plant. Basically, these are the easy ways to kill the poor plant after it was tortured by the mail carrier. If you want the plant to stay alive, please (1) give it a lot of water and (2) keep it in the shade for 7-10 days. Typically, when I receive a new plant, I put the roots in a jar with water for 24-48 hours. Then I move it to a pot with good potting soil. I keep the soil soggy for 1 week. Sometimes I trim off the lower leaves – too many older leaves put too much stress on the roots. I use a water bottle to spray the remaining leaves. After that I start exposing the plant to periods of direct sunlight outdoors, and only after that I would put the plant in the garden soil. I would water it every day for the next 7 days. After that the plant is ready to adjust on its own. These are not “the instructions to follow” … this is a common knowledge. Please click on the "see other items" button on top right side of the ad.
