Description: This is an early example of an 11" Axford cast iron broiler skillet from about the late 1920s. This one carries the "Pat Pend" on the handle. The bottom of the these early skillets were not marked and are much harder to find. This skillet was manufactured for Axford by Lodge and this one also carries a ghost arc "LODGE" at the top of the skillets. Most pan you find will have "Pat 1931". Eight sheets of printer paper slipped under one edge stops movement on a granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin.Test for flatness of Pan. With the pan resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim of the pan searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the pan until pan stops moving. Item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. Item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hours. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item may take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light. Photos are part of the item’s description.
