Description: This Outstanding hand carved wood box hails from the early 20th Century. Depicted is a Mountain Goat or Ibex upon a rocky boulder. This fine fellow adorns the hinged lid of the box which has been done in a European, ‘Black Forest’ style. The compartment below offers ample space for trinkets and such. The color is lovely, showing hues of wet sand, tawny brown, and gingerbread. How perfect for any desk, table, or shelf composition! The box is in Very Good Used Condition, showing appropriate wear given age and use. As can be expected, it bears the occasional small dent or mar to the wood. There is some varnish loss throughout with a few ‘drips’ of varnish here and there. The hinges are a bit loose, but still quite functional. The piece measures approximately 10.50 inches long by 4.75 inches wide. The box portion is 3.50 inches tall and comes in at 14 inches total when including the carved goat.
