Apricot fruit itself is hardy and tough when established, the real problem with growing this fruit is that apricot trees tend to bloom too early in the spring. This early tendency exposes the tender apricot blossoms to the ever-changing and unpredictable spring weather. Hail, wind and frost can easily damage these delicate blossoms and rain can just as easily inhibit fruit growth by stopping insects from pollinating the flowers.
