Description: Seahorses are tiny fish that are named for the shape of their head, which looks like, yup.... a tiny horse:) There are 36 seahorse species, which are found in tropical and temperate coastal waters where they swim upright among seaweed and other plants. Ours resembles the Dwarf Seahorse. The dwarf is a species found in the subtidal beds of the Bahamas and parts of the United States. We chose this species for it is threatened by habitat loss. So sweet is our seahorse, we made only one like this one, with glowing, shimmering water blue abalone shell, delicate white mother of pearl, blue turquoise and opal fin. There is also a striking touch of purple sugilite placed as accents on the chest. The bail is large enough to house just about any chain and the piece is chock full of bright and tropical colors, 2.1/8" inch long by just under 3/4" wide. The dearest creature in the sea, and he's longing to be nearer to thee.
