Description: This is a beautiful and highly collectable Sadler teapot, regularly fetching prices up to $400-500 online. It is in the shape that Sadler called "Louis", generally referred to these days as "Cube", and pattern number 1936, with pink rosebuds scattered over a paler pink ground and lavish hand-applied gilding. This design is often listed as "Ditsy Rose". The stamp underneath indicates that it was made between 1937 and 1947. The teapot is approximately 15cm/6 inches wide and 23cm/9 inches tall. It contains just under a litre of water, so would have originally been intended to supply 4 cups of tea. It is in very good condition for its age, with only a few faults: there are some losses to the gilding, a tiny hairline crack in the edge of the opening, and another hairline crack (less than an inch long) on the shoulder. These are identified by arrows in the collage picture (the third last photograph), you may need to enlarge the picture in order to see them as they are barely noticeable. There is also a slight over-run of gold paint on one side next to the mouth of the spout (second-last picture). We are also listing separately another teapot in the same design, but with a mended handle, and the matching milk jug and sugar bowl - the final picture shows the teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl but please note this listing only includes the teapot. Please enlarge and examine the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description. IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ We are a small family business in rural Australia.
