Description: Charlie Parker 8th Annual Jazz Festival poster for 2 concerts in New York City. One show in Harlem and one in the Lower East Side. Condition is EX+, poster has great colors and is 11 1/2" x 17 1/2" on thick stock paper with no flaws. Limited print runs and never reprinted. A lot of living local jazzmen and women always show up. What a year the 1998 has for the crowd, Clark Terry, James Moody, Jon Faddis, Lou Donaldson, Dr. Lonnie Smith and many more. These annual shows are always held on a weekend closest to 8/29, Bird's birthday. Phil Schaap was always the MC or "Ornithologist-in-Residence"; and he would air weeklong Bird Birthday broadcasts on WKCR-FM NYC. Now that Phil is gone, I sure hope the tradition will live on.
