The quality of the plain plates particularly is superb. In the original binding with green buckram spine and corners and cloth boards. Gilt titles to front boards and spine. Page edges untrimmed. Vol I, 3 colour and 56 plain plates - 208pp; Vol II, 4 colour and 51 plain plates - 192 pp; Vol III, 6 colour and 45 plain plates - 175 pp; Vol IV, 2 colour and 55 plain plates - 219 pp; Vol V, 3 colour and 62 plain plates - 178 pp; Vol VI, 6 colour and 49 plain plates - 252 pp - includes index to the egg plates. All the bindings are generally clean but with pulling to top and bottom of spines and wear and bumping to corners and edges. Internally the contents are clean - both text and plates. The egg plates are tissue-guarded. The page edges are untrimmed and tend to have browning and an occasional small paper tear.Vol II has a repaired tear to the edge of the fep. One plate in Vol IV has a long repaired tear to the inner margin not affecting the image. Very occasional marking - a good set overall.
